(Session B: July 18-31, Session D: August 22-Sept 4))
This classic canoeing region is highlighted by rivers, lakes and wildlife, and is rich in Native culture and tradition. The Temagami region offers endless route possibilities and an opportunity for participants to experience a taste of northern Ontario wilderness. Each year we select a route that will appropriately challenge the group and will pass through some of the landmarks that have made this region so famous. Maple Mountain, Lady Evelyn Lake, Wolf Lake, Devil’s Peak are just a few of the highlights from past trips.
Where is the Temagami Region?
The region is the set of lakes and rivers to the west of the town of Temagami, about an hour north of North Bay. Lake Temagami is at the centre of the region, and its long fingers stretch out in all directions allowing paddlers to head of to one of the more remote regions of the area. Lady Evelyn Smoothwater Provincial Park borders the northern edge of the region, and Lake Wanapitae and the surrounding lakes sits at the southwestern border.
