The LIT program is the second step in Camp Queen Elizabeth’s leadership training program. While the Leadership 1 program focuses on personal skill development and leadership within their peer group, the LIT program focuses on leading, teaching and role-modeling to younger campers at CQE.
Who is this program for?
-16 year-old boys and girls, who are interested in developing their abilities and skills for working with younger campers.
How is the program set-up?
-It is a 1-month program (either July or August).
-The program is co-ed; we aim for a 50/50 boy-girl split each month.
-Participants spend 2-weeks as a “Resource LIT”, where they help team morning activities at camp, and spend the afternoons and evenings with the other LITs in programs that develop their programming and teaching skills.
-The other 2-weeks are spent as a “Cabin LIT”, where each LIT is paired with a cabin group for the session. They will participate in all cabin programs, and be given the opportunity to help lead several programs, all while under the guidance of experienced CQE Staff.
Are there any prerequisites?
-Participants must be either 16 years old, or turning 16 by December 31, 2009.
-Participants must have completed CQE’s Leadership 1 program, or an equivalent leadership program elsewhere.
-It is recommended that participants have their Bronze Cross swimming level, however this is not required.
How does registration work?
-Register as you would for any other CQE program.
-Download the Leadership 2 Application Form from the Forms section of our website. The participant should fill this out and return it to our offices.
-Because LITs take on a leadership role with younger campers, all applicants will be interviewed within 1-month of their registration to ensure their suitability for the program.
-Although entry into the program is conditional on completion of an interview, registrations will be processed in the order they are received. Payment will only be processed once entry into the program is confirmed. Click on an icon to learn more about the LIT program |
